...1 horrified face. You don't just spring a pelvic exam on people, do you? Do you? It was just too much. Oh well. We have to start doing physical exams so I guess it's understandable. I just don't know why we couldn't start with HEENT or cardio.
My favorite line from our professor today: "I'm really not schizophrenic but sometimes I have flight of ideas." |

Biochem and Physiology are over!!! I don't even care that I probably bombed that Physio Shelf exam. It's over!
We start brain and behavior next week (which I hope is good) and I just have to get thru my OSCE on Wednesday. And then, FINALLY, spring break comes! I hear every school in Augusta takes spring break at the same time b/c of the Masters. Maybe I'll take up golfing sometime.
I can't wait to sleep and not set an alarm! |

Before I start my inane county project, I saw that it's the 10th anniversary of Buffy and it made me want to reminisce too. I was in 7th grade, growing up on all things WB. And I kept seeing the commercials for this new show. That night, I went to my parent's room (I don't remember where they were), laid on their bed and watched the entire two hour premiere. I was hooked. I watched everything after that until somewhere around 11th or 12th grade. It was the whole move to UPN thing. My parents didn't have cable (until I went to college, how convenient) and how UPN was so bad with getting a good signal sometimes. It was so frustrating. I ended up not watching most of that season b/c of that.
So I went off to college. I remember that the big impetus for the rekindling of the love was a poster that said 'Buffy Lives' on a MARTA train. I remember wanting to steal that poster. So, I caught up on season 6 by using FX and the internet. And it was then that I started reading fanfic. I had read some X-Files fanfic before but I had never wanted to touch any Buffy stuff b/c I didn't want to 'taint' the canon. But I think it was eurydice72 's The Hunt that made me dismiss that silly notion. So I watched season 7 that year, which was great but just never got to where I wanted it to go (of course, I wanted more spuffy). But thank God for fanfic. |

I was just taking a break from biochemistry and decided to check out Love's Last Glimpse Awards to maybe read something new. I was totally shocked to see that Of Frogs and True Love was nominated twice! Blew my mind and made my day!
So to whoever did that, THANK YOU!!!
I'm up against people like Herself and Nautibitz so I don't expect to win. But to be nominated at all is so awesome! I hate that I don't have time to write, let alone update my journal. I hardly even have time to read anything other than my textbooks. But I do have one fic in the works that I add to when I can, so hopefully I can post that sometime. |

I've been gone for a good bit. I did a six week summer program. Then I got to come home for 10 days that I spent packing and buying furniture and moving. Now I just finished my first week of medical school. Wow, it's really no joke. I can't believe all that we have to know already. I wake up at 6 to get to class by 7:30 so I get a good seat. Class starts at 8 and ends at noon (dissection is from 9 to noon on anatomy day). We get a lunch break and come back either at 1 for another couple of hours. Luckily, Fridays are short and end at 11. And then I have to study. Usually four to six hours. I still made time for So You Think You Can Dance on Wednesday though (Go Benji!) so it's not all bad. |

I just found the original version of the fic I wrote for seasonal_spuffy. I think I jotted down the whole story randomly in class one time last year. When I heard about seasonal_spuffy 2, I thought it'd be good. But I couldn't find what I had jotted down. So I wrote it over again. But I just found the original and I'm wondering if I should write it too. So, I'm thinking. If anyone has some insight, tell me. |

Two more finals on Monday and I'm out of school.....only to go to another school. But it's still cool since I only went to college so I could get to med school. But my brain hurts from all the studying now. I hate tests on back to back days already. What I've got are tests at 2pm and 5pm, same day. So I'm studying like mad and I still have to pack and move out of the dorms. Stress. But it's almost over! |

I got this from basilio_the_cat. Go to Wikipedia. Type in your birthdate (no year!). List three events, two births and a death happening on that day in the world's history. Post this in your journal.
July 27th
Events: 1921 - Researchers at the University of Toronto led by biochemist Frederick Banting announce the discovery of the hormone insulin. 1940 - Bugs Bunny makes his official debut in the animated cartoon A Wild Hare. 1996 - Centennial Olympic Park bombing: In Atlanta, Georgia, a pipe bomb explodes at Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996 Summer Olympics, killing one and injuring 111. - I remember this one because we lived in Kennesaw, which is about 25 minutes north of Atlanta. I turned 12 that year and we actually visited Centennial Olympic Park that day. We left about 45 minutes before the bombing happened.
Births: 1948 - Peggy Fleming, American figure skater 1977 - Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Irish actor
Death: 2003 - Bob Hope, English-born entertainer

Spring Break is coming to an end. It was a pretty nice one. Went home, got some money from the parentals, did some shopping to replace my holey jeans and shirts. I found out I got into the pre-matriculation program for MCG. I also got new glasses and since they'll take 7 to 10 to be made, I decided to finally get contacts. Finally, I posted my seasonal_spuffy fic and people seemed to like it okay. So all in all, a good spring break. It's just too bad it's ending... |

What an exciting night...I watched the Oscars while my roommate used my computer for her test. Oh well. Spring Break starts this week and I'm getting out of here. School's got me so busy. I still have to finish my Seasonal_Spuffy fic. Guess it's no break after all. |
